COINSLOT SOLD

Story dated 11th November 2000

UK amusement trade newspaper Coinslot International has been sold to ATE Ltd, publisher of the rival Gameplay. ATE (who organise the annual ATEI trade show in London) bought the paper from previous owners World's Fair.

The Coinslot newspaper used to be a section within the World's Fair weekly newspaper, which caters for the funfair and market trades. A couple of years ago, Coinslot was removed from World's Fair and made into a subscription-only publication.

ATE has trumpeted the increase in circulation of Coinslot since the sale, from around 3000 to 4100 issues per week. However, this has been achieved by merging Gameplay into Coinslot, and since Gameplay was distributed free-of-charge, those readers are now receiving free copies of Coinslot.

Coinslot is set to undergo a redesign in the run-up to the ATEI show in January 2001. Meanwhile the classified adverts are available online at the Coinslot website.
