NO KEN FOR YOUR TOKEN?

6th April 2000

With Striker Xtreme now hitting the streets, Stern Pinball Inc has announced a set of custom speech chips for the game. The sound ROMs contain different language versions of the game commentary and are available in German, French, Italian and Spanish in addition to the original English version.

The voice used in the English language variant has an uncanny resemblance to the new London Mayor and former Member of Parliament for Brent East, Ken Livingstone.

As a result, the Ken Livingstone soundalike heard in all the previous versions of the game - such as at ATEI and the POA convention - will be missing from most non-English speaking countries.

It is believed that only the sound is being customised for different countries. The dot-matrix display already has multi-language support built into the OS, and there are no plans to alter any playfield artwork or spelling.
