There is an amazing arcade in Colorado that pinball fans can visit to play a large selection of classic pins.

Arcade Amusements in Manitou Springs,Colorado features four buildings filled with arcade games from many decades ago through today. They bill themselves as the "West's Oldest Arcade" and have been in business over 55 years.

One of the buildings has rows of rare pins from the early '70s to the late '90s. The building with the pin collection also has a great selection from the 1978-1983 "Golden Age"of video games. There is also a lot of arcade memorabilia hanging on the walls.

The two most memorable games at the arcade to me (which can be seen in the video below) were not even pins. One was a mechanical twelve player horserace/skee-ball style game that took up an entire building. A player rolls a ball into slots worth various points to get a score, the higher the score the more the horse moves across the track until the highest scorer crosses the finsh line.

The other was a Williams Space Pilot. This vintage EM amusement has a dual propeller powered spaceship that you control to try and hit contact posts to score points. If you visit the arcade, be sure not to miss these games.

If you are planning a trip to Colorado, I recommend a visit to Arcade Amusements. The arcade is only a minute or two drive from Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. The arcade is open all year, call for hours of operation: (719) 685-9815.

UPDATE:

It's good to see Arcade Amusements is still going strong.

M.V.Jantzen has told us about the visit he made in December 2012, during which he took a bunch of photos. You can view them and read about the enjoyable time he had on his blog.
