MBK CENTER |
Location: 444 Phayathai Rd., Pathumwan, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330, Thailand In his second report from MBK, John takes along a friend and finds the Spider-Man machine from his previous visit is still there. But it has brought a friend of its own. On a Friday in mid-November 2013, I visited Bangkok with my wife. In fact this was one of several visits we have made to Bangkok, since it is a paradise for both men and women.
This time, we stayed in the hotel Novotel on Siam Square. This is definitely a nice hotel with good decoration and a convenient location.
We first had a delicious lunch and also a relaxing massage near the hotel.
In the evening, we proceeded to the MBK for an appointment with my Japanese pinball friend Mr. Takeda, who has been seconded to the Bangkok office of his company since April this year.
There were two pinball machines this time - Spider-Man and Pirates of the Caribbean - in the Galaxy Game Center on the 7th floor of MBK. So far as I know this is the only pinball location in Bangkok, although I believe there should be others in the city.
The Spider-Man pinball had a big problem with its lower-right flipper, and the lower-left flipper was not powerful enough to flip the ball up the right ramp. The Pirates of the Caribbean was in acceptable condition. The replay scores of these two pins were not high at 28.2M and 13.7M respectively, so it was not difficult for us to win replays again and again.
We began our fun evening at the Galaxy Game Centre from 7:30pm to 10:00pm until the Spider-Man broke down. The game centre's technician tried to repair it, but without success and he needed to fully refund us. (^o^)
Apart from pinballs, there are a number of video games there to play.
We had a quick and late dinner in a nearby Thai restaurant, and we finished at 11:00pm. Initially, I felt that Mr. Takeda would have an easy life in Bangkok. Surprisingly though, he is working hard and busy there. It is quite unbelievable! In next few days, we had nothing to do except having massages and delicious foods.
Accidentally, I did find a Rawhide pinball at a second hand goods centre inside the new giant shopping mall, Mega Bangna.
It seems that there are still a number of vintage pinballs spread around Bangkok.
