The couple partnered with pinball aficionados David Yopp and Michael Muhlert to open <em>Flip Side<\/em> in March 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s talk about the dining and cover the arcade experience a bit later in this review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If not unique, then certainly exceptional for barcades is the fact that<em> Flip Side<\/em> has an Executive Chef, Jordan Beatty, 28, on staff. Jordan\u2019s well-curated lunch menu includes tacos, burrito bowls, salads, quesadillas, house salsas, and quesos.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-28.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-28.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-28.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-28-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-28-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-28-850x638.jpeg 850w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Tacos!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beatty, a Memphis native, was a sous chef at <em>Caritas Village<\/em>, sous chef and daytime chef at <em>Tamboli\u2019s Pasta &amp; Pizza<\/em>, and daytime chef\/brunch chef at <em>The Vault<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Flip Side<\/em> offers an elevated dinner menu available only from 5pm to 9pm. All dinner entrees come with Mexican rice, black beans, and house-made pickled taqueria salad with pickled jalape\u00f1os, carrots, radishes, and onions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Flip Side<\/em> also has a good selection of vegetarian and gluten-free items, such as their rice bowls and salads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All this is well and good, but what about the barcade part of <em>The Flip Side<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Flip Side<\/em> features seventeen pinball machines, some of which are vintage machines that have been restored by collector David Yopp.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-13-scaled.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-13-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-13-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-13-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-13-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-13-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-13-2048x1536.jpeg 2048w, https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-13-850x638.jpeg 850w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yopp said he owns over seventy pinball machines. \u201c<em>There is only space for 16-20 here, so I will be rotating them out<\/em>\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The oldest machine in his collection dates back to 1964, while the newest was released in the summer of 2022 (the <em>Cactus Canyon<\/em> remake).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On top of each machine, Yopp has attached an information card listing the year it was made, the&nbsp;manufacturer, and how many of that title were manufactured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every Thursday night the pub hosts a weekly pinball tournament, while IFPA-sanctioned events are held monthly. Guests can watch all the action at the tournaments and special events on screens above each machine. Yopp calls the live shot screens he designed &#8216;gallery monitors.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinballnews.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Flip-Side-Memphis-9-scaled.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" a third element to <em>Flip Side<\/em> which I feel should be discussed, and that is the bar.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a <em>Future Spa<\/em> (gin, triple sec and blood orange), <em>The Roger Sharpe<\/em> (rye whiskey, bitters, and Meletti amaro), and <em>&#8216;Bonus Ball<\/em>&#8216;<em> Old Fashioned <\/em>(bourbon, orange bitters, and bourbon cherry)<em> <\/em>to name a few.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a a very good selection of craft beers both in bottles and on tap.
