Spooky Pinball today announced their latest release, Beetlejuice<\/em>, based on the 1988 comedy horror film directed by Tim Burton and staring Michael Keaton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spooky have been teasing the game and releasing selected details in the weeks before today’s official launch, but this is the first time we get to see everything in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is only one version available, priced at $9,999 with a maximum production of 999 units. There are additional options of an animatronic topper instead of the static one included by default, and the ‘butter’ high-gloss cabinet decals which are also available if purchased at the time of ordering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the game went on sale today, it was mostly already sold-out at distributors, but Spooky Pinball did have a number for direct sale to customers. These sold out within 15 minutes of orders opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what’s on the playfield? Well, as the follow-up to Evil Dead<\/em>, Spooky have quite a lot to live up to. While Evil Dead<\/em> was a widebody game, Beetlejuice <\/em>is standard width.<\/p>\n\n\n

Probably the main toy in the game is the Sandworm.<\/p>\n\n\n

This model can move up, down, left and right, plus it can also swallow the ball. An Attack from Mars style motorised target bank blocks access to the Sandworm and the scoop underneath.<\/p>\n\n\n

The scoop contains two more standup targets which can be shot by the ball entering the subway.<\/p>\n\n\n

An area of the playfield at the top represents the waiting room from the movie. It has its own orbit lane, scoop, standup targets and a full-size flipper.<\/p>\n\n\n

Above the Waiting Room is a couch which can lock ball fed to it on a wireform from the right orbit lane.<\/p>\n\n\n

When multiball begins, the couch tips forward to release the locked balls.<\/p>\n\n\n

On the left is Dante’s Inferno, which features a roulette-style wheel where the player hits the action button to select one of the awards.<\/p>\n\n\n

On the opposite side is the Beetlejuice<\/em> sculpt. This rises out from behind his gravestone, but also lifts a trapped ball with him, firing it back to the player on the right wireform.<\/p>\n\n\n

A launched ball can go straight down the right outlane, in which case it is brought back from the dead by a magnet between the flippers which flings it back up the playfield.<\/p>\n\n\n

Beetlejuice<\/em> pinball is a standard-body pinball machine, set in the world of the iconic 1988 Tim Burton film. Players will experience everything this film has to offer, and so much more!

From getting dropped into Saturn to battle a pinball-eating Sandworm, to working with your Case Worker Juno, or digging up Beetlejuice himself, players will be delighted by our most memorable pinball moments yet.

Aiding these moments and sequences are unlimited access to film footage and audio, the unforgettable Danny Elfman Beetlejuice<\/em> theme, and Harry Belafonte’s “Day-O”.

Beetlejuice pinball is a creation brought to life by Spooky Pinball’s experienced Gaggle of Ghouls.

Designer Duo Spooky Luke and Corwin “Bug” Emery are back, with their skills of theme integration, layout flow, interactive mechanisms, and so much more finely tuned in for their 5th game.

Artist Christopher Franchi delivers his ninth complete art package, with a bold, twisted, and beautiful tribute to Tim Burton’s world.

Joining the fun is Brady Hearn, conjuring a hauntingly fun soundscape that ties it all together.

Programmers Spooky DJ and Casey Butler, under the direction of Luke Peters, have brewed the code into something truly special, fast, funny, and full of surprises! Capturing the chaos and charm of Beetlejuice like never before.
