AVATAR |
Stern's new Avatar made its first public appearance at the AAMA Distributor Gala on Thursday 29th July and David Young of BMI Gaming in Boca Raton, FL was there to take a video of it. Click on the video below to see it for yourself.
The video reveals some on the areas hidden in the publicity picture and confirms many of our earlier details. The 3D backglass looks very impressive and somewhat better than previous efforts used in games such as Star Wars Trilogy and Jurassic Park - The Lost World. The cabinet sides appear much lighter than in the publicity shot due to a lack of blue, although a sign next to the game indicates this is sample artwork and not the production version. Not previously visible, there is a captive ball to the right of the moving 3-bank and a spinner on the right orbit lane.
Jake lies in his pod above a lane which can trap the ball, while the area under the command ship consists of a red standup at the end of a short lane, flanked by two yellow standups. The red standup can be lit to start AMP multiball and features a very bright flasher lamp to draw your attention to it.
The four blue standups on the left side start Na'vi scoring when completed and there are two white targets on the right which light a different feature.
The glimpses of the display effects shows they look nicely smooth and detailed, especially for the match sequence.
Let's hope the rest of the display effects live up to this standard.
