Jersey Jack Pinball today revealed their twelfth release, the Steve Ritchie designed Sonic the Hedgehog.

Based on the popular video game series, Sonic the Hedgehog sees our eponymous hero battling the mad scientist, Doctor Eggman, and his robot army who schemes to obtain the seven Chaos Emeralds so he can take over the world. Along the way, Sonic collects rings which increase his health and provide power-ups such as increased speed, longer jumps or underground travel, while he also aims to collect the emeralds to deny Doctor Eggman their powers.

Although Sonic has spanned several media, including comics, animations and live-action movies, the pinball focuses solely on the original video game franchise. While Steve Ritchie has long voiced his desire to make a Top Gun pinball, for now his ‘need for speed’ is confined to a running and jumping blue hedgehog in Michael Jackson-inspired sneakers.

The launch of Sonic the Hedgehog pinball coincides with the 35th anniversary of the release of the first Sonic video game on the Sega Genesis console in North American and Europe on 23rd June 1991, which is also considered to be Sonic’s birthday. It also comes just over a year since Jersey Jack Pinball’s previous title, Harry Potter, was revealed on 5th June 2025.

As with that previous title, the latest Jersey Jack Pinball game is available in three variants. The Arcade Edition is the lowest priced at $9,999, while the middle Special Edition costs $12,000, with the top-of-the-range Collector’s Edition coming in at $15,000.

The company has always wanted to be able to release the details of their latest game while making it easy for potential buyers to get their hands on one as soon as possible. To that end, the company made multiple machines and shipped them to distributors and select locations around the US for play later today or later this week.

We are still awaiting more pictures from Jersey Jack Pinball as there were no media assets sent for this launch, but we will add more here as soon as we get them.

So, let’s take a look at what we have for the three Sonic the Hedgehog models, starting with the base Arcade Edition.
